Probably one of the only places you would see this kind of landscape. Miles of drifting pink sand. Sandboarding is popular, and boards can be rented in the very small gift shop on site. A bit of a wa…Full review by Debbie W

Inexpensive. $15 per car. Good facilities. Boards to slide down are $25, but a group can share. 4 wheelers were quoted as $75 per person per hour.Full review by eam4586

Park is really beautiful and so unique. If you have a chance, take a UTV tour while you are there. The outfitter is right at the park when you drive in.Full review by Lvtripplanning
Is there a place on sight to rent the sand boards? Is it open year round? About how many trips up and down the dunes are most people doing?

The ranger station when you go in has board rentals. They are $25. You can get a standup board or a sit down. It is a lot of work to go up and down the dunes. I had a group of high school guys and they only got in maybe 4 or 5 runs just because it is very hard to go back up.
walking around the sand dunes at sunset which i heard is the best time or renting the ATV's? i want too see the sunset at the park as i have heard that is the best time. i could do a sunset ATV tour for $250 for two hours but i am trying to see if it is worth the money to go around on the ATV as opposed to just doing the park on my own for $10. I am sure the ATV tour is fine but is it worht another $250. Thanks

When you are at the visitor center and the picnic/parking areas, you are on the West side of the park. The sun will be setting behind you. I would save the bucks and walk in a ways. There are trails for pedestrians and areas for off-roaders. However, if this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing for you and photography is a big deal - I would check with the ATV operator about your specific interest in sunsets. He/she may persuade you to spend the money. You could book a tour and then get weather that precludes the best colors. However, ATVs are a blast. You may get so thrilled with the ride that you forget the sunset.
