Personally, i would recommend going to "The Hope & Anchor", which is really close to the Tower. It is a cosy pub with good food and atmosphere. BTW - since you're gonna be 8 people, it's probably better to reserve a place.

This will take you in to Brandon Hill grounds where the tower is situated. Good views of the city from here. Entrance to the tower is free and spectacular views from the top. Enjoy
