We started in 1957 as the CSIRO Co-operative Credit Society and have grown and evolved, joining together over 70 credit unions and co-operatives to become Australia's first customer-owned bank. We changed our name to Bank Australia in 2015. We're owned by our customers, which means we don't answer to external shareholders. A certified B Corp, we return profits to our customers through better rates and fees and we use our investments to create positive social and environmental change. At Bank Australia, we say our money is 'clean' because we never fund harmful industries like fossil fuels, weapons, gambling, tobacco or live animal export. And we do support clean energy transition, affordable and accessible housing and protecting nature.
