WEBSep 19, 2013 · As far as cadd yes remember all past production is in cadd and you will need to at least be able to reference and use it. Yes, learn autocad! it will def be around another 10yrs or so. In practice, time is money, money is time. get it in, get it out, get paid! Even a great 3D model starts with even better 2D drawings.

WEBJul 14, 2005 · Ok, been working on microstation for a few weeks now. Starting to learn it but it seems like everything takes twice as many commands compared to Autocad. When drawing a line I've been told to do the DI= or DL= and then type in distances. There has got to be a faster way.

I highly recommend the book: "Digital Drawing for Designers: A Visual Guide to AutoCAD" (yearly version so choose the newest) I've used this book to teach CAD it uses the method I recommended. WEBJul 31, 2017 · Other tools: Autocad is still good to know for 2d work and many small firms still use it although its on the way out generally. Sketchup is good for quickly designing in 3d and will be useful but not essential. 3dsMax is the tool to use for rendering but is tricky to learn and not used by architects much because of that.
